Cetywayo was the King of the Zulus from 1873 to 1879, he led his people during the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. After the British defeated him, he was exiled but returned to Africa shortly before his death. The letter appears to be the conclusion of a brief communication to Mrs. Eykyn the wife of Rogers Eykyn a Member of Parliament, dated August 26, 1882.
