Tanzania is known for a specific type of elephant mask, often associated with the Sagara people in the Dodoma region. Unlike the beaded elephant masks of the Bamileke people in Cameroon, which are associated with prestige societies and elaborate costumes, the Sagara masks represent a more primal, ceremonial form.
